JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 18, 2010 — Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow will be the keynote speaker for 51社区鈥檚 second annual Roy L. White Legacy Golf and Gala April 19.
Tebow, a two-time NCAA national champion as quarterback for the University of Florida, will speak at a banquet and program beginning at 6 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in downtown Jackson.
鈥淭im Tebow is known for his leadership, achievement and commitment to Christ like few in the sports world,鈥 said Charles Fowler, Union鈥檚 senior vice president for university relations.

While in college, Tebow accepted several prestigious awards such as the Heisman Trophy, Davey O鈥 Brien Award, NCAA Quarterback of the Year and two ESPYs for Best Male College Athlete. Following his sophomore season, Tebow was honored with the Sullivan Award, given to the nation鈥檚 top amateur athlete based on character, leadership and ability. He was also the first Division I quarterback to pass and rush for more than 20 touchdowns in a season.
Off the field, Tebow is also known for his commitment to serve those in need both at home and abroad. He is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation, an organization through which he has mobilized hundreds of college students to participate in aid work and raised funds for needy children in Asia, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
