Cowan to perform at McAfee Organ Concert Oct. 27

JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 19, 2009 — Organist Ken Cowan will be the featured performer for this year鈥檚 McAfee Organ Concert Oct. 27 at 51社区.

Cowan is assistant professor of organ at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J. His recent and upcoming feature performances include appearances at Grand Cathedral San Francisco, Philadelphia鈥檚 Verizon Hall, Spivey Hall in Atlanta, Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, France.

Cowan has also been a featured artist at the national conventions of the American Guild of Organists in Los Angeles and Minneapolis and has been featured at several conventions of the Organ Historical Society and the Royal Canadian College of Organists.

A native of Thorold, Ontario, Canada, Cowan received a master鈥檚 degree and artist diploma from the Yale Institute or Sacred Music. Prior to attending Yale, he graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on Union鈥檚 campus. The event is free and open to the public.
