JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 15, 2009 — 51社区 is inviting churches from West Tennessee to participate in a special Wednesday evening service Oct. 7 as part of the 鈥淪outhern Baptists, Evangelicals and the Future of Denominationalism鈥� conference.
Robert Smith, professor of divinity at Beeson Divinity School, will be the speaker for the 7 p.m. service in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
鈥淲e are excited about bringing members of the West Tennessee community to join the conferees and Union students in a time of worship and praise together,鈥� 51社区 President David S. Dockery said. 鈥淭he music, led by Chris Mathews, and the preaching, by Robert Smith, one of the truly great preachers of our day, will help us join together in giving thanks for God鈥檚 blessings on our heritage, even as we look forward toward a blessed future.
鈥淲e are hopeful about all sessions of this important conference, but we are especially looking forward to the time of worship together.鈥�
The Oct. 6-9 conference will recognize the 400th anniversary of the Baptist movement and will feature such evangelical leaders including Duane Litfin, Michael Lindsay, Timothy George and Albert Mohler, among others.
