HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — Aug. 17, 2009 — In addition to the three graduate programs currently offered, 51社区 Hendersonville will expand its programs for the fall 2009 semester as the university advances into its second year in Hendersonville.
鈥淎t a time when other schools are pulling back and reassessing their positions, 51社区 Hendersonville is moving forward,鈥� said Charles Lea, executive director of 51社区 Hendersonville.
Beginning fall 2009, 51社区 Hendersonville will offer dual-enrollment courses in public communication at Goodpasture High School in Madison; chemistry and theater at Donelson Christian Academy in Nashville; and college algebra at Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville. Dual-enrollment courses allow students to complete college-level coursework and earn high school and college credit simultaneously.
鈥淲e are pleased to be partnering our efforts with Christian high schools in the mid-state area,鈥� Lea said. 鈥淚n the coming months, we hope to bring onboard more high schools and offer more courses.鈥�
鈥淚 think that dual-enrollment courses provide great preparation for high school students as they make the transition to college,鈥� said Susan Stillwell, guidance counselor at Goodpasture. 鈥淏y strengthening their writing and speaking skills now, students will be able to perform better in their major courses in college.鈥�
In addition to the dual-enrollment undergraduate courses offered by 51社区 Hendersonville, graduate programs at the campus include Master of Christian Studies, Education Specialist and Master of Education.
鈥淥ur future plans include offering a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and we are looking at the possibility of offering a doctoral program in education,鈥� Lea said.
