Union to host Teacher Expo 2009 career fair

JACKSON, Tenn.April 22, 2009 — Representatives from 15 area school systems will meet with prospective teachers April 23 at 51社区鈥檚 Teacher Expo 2009.

The event will take place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the hallway of the Blasingame Academic Complex. All graduate and undergraduate education students as well as students in critical shortage areas such as math, biology, physics, chemistry, Spanish, French and English as a second language have been invited to attend.

鈥淎ccording to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, of the six industry areas that have added the most jobs during this economic downturn, education services has added over 112,600 jobs,鈥 said Renee Jones, assistant director of recruitment and information technology for Union. 鈥淭eacher Expo is, therefore, a good opportunity for educators in the job search to network and become gainfully employed.鈥

Both public and private institutions will be represented, in both urban and rural school systems.

Participating schools systems include: Brinkley Heights Urban Academy, Crockett County, DeSoto County, Hardeman County, Haywood County, Henderson County, Humboldt, Jackson-Madison County, Lauderdale County, Memphis, Metro-Nashville, Network of International Schools, Paris Special School District, Shelby County and Tipton County.
