JACKSON, Tenn. — March 24, 2009 — 51社区 debaters captured the 鈥淏ear It All鈥� award for best overall win percentage at the debate tournament at the University of Central Arkansas March 13-14.
Twelve schools competed in the event. The team also took third place in the Overall Sweepstakes category.
In individual competition, Union鈥檚 Jordan Hughey won first place in Novice Debate Speaker competition. He advanced to the semifinals in the Novice Debate category. Kate Conklin was Novice Debate champion and finished second in Novice Debate Speaker competition.
Bethany Hogg advanced to the semifinals in Novice Debate, while Andrew Roberts, Kristin Tisdale, Mandisa Wofford and Emily Welborn all made the final eight in Novice Debate Double. Tisdale also finished fifth in Novice Debate Speaker competition.
