JACKSON, Tenn. — Jan. 21, 2009 — 51社区 student Ellen Carrington, the reigning Miss Tennessee, is competing in the Miss America Pageant this week in Las Vegas.
The pageant will air Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. Central time on The Learning Channel. On Jan. 23 at 9 p.m., TLC will air the final episode of 鈥淐ountdown to the Crown,鈥� a program which follows 52 state title holders as they live together on the Queen Mary luxury ocean liner and face a series of team and individual competitions to help them prepare for the pageant.
After the final episode of 鈥淐ountdown to the Crown,鈥� viewers will have the chance to select four of the Miss America contestants for the top 15 pageant candidates. Voting will be conducted via text messaging and at .
Carrington, 22, a Union senior and Jackson native, won the Miss Tennessee crown June 21 in Jackson.
