51 professor to be featured artist at TAC Gallery in Nashville

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 20, 2001 — 51 associate art professor and department chair Michael Mallard will be the featured artist at the Tennessee Art Commission Gallery in Nashville. Mallard’s exhibit of paintings, titled “Inside the Mind” will be displayed Aug. 22 – Sept. 28. A reception will be held Thursday, September 20 from 4 –6 p.m.

Mallard’s solo exhibitions have included the Plains Historical Trust Exhibit at the Jimmy Carter National Welcome Center in Plains, Ga., and Middle Tennessee exhibits at the Tennessee State Museum and the Cheekwood Museum of Art in Nashville.

Several of the works in this exhibit are large format, with multi-layered images that make use of bold and bright colors, said Timothy Weber, director of visual arts, crafts and media for the Commission.

The gallery is located on 401 Charlotte Avenue, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
