Commemorative walk will honor those victimized by homicide

JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 21, 2008 — Family members and loved ones of homicide victims will participate in a commemorative walk at 51社区 Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

The half-mile walk will begin at Miller Tower and take place between Jennings Hall and White Hall on the Union campus. Surviving family members of homicide victims are invited to participate in the event, and to carry photos of their loved ones during the march.

As part of the walk, Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist, Police Chief Rick Staples and Sheriff David Woolfork will give brief speeches. Kitty Lawson, executive director of Victims to Victory, a faith-based organization in Memphis for victims of crime, will deliver the keynote address.
