JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 14, 2008 — 51 political science professor Kevin Cooney has co-edited a new textbook, “The Rise of China and International Security: America and Asia Respond.”
Published by Routledge, the book offers diverse and comprehensive views of China’s rise and its implications for the East Asian region and beyond.
The book is co-edited by Yoichiro Sato, associate professor at the Asia-Pacific Centre for Security Studies in Honolulu. Cooney and Sato each contributed chapters to the book as well. Cooney wrote the introduction and a chapter entitled “Chinese-American hegemonic competition in East Asia: A new cold war or into the arms of America?”
Cooney was also recently elected as president of Christians in Political Science, an organization that supports Christian political scientists with the integration of their faith in their research and teaching.
