JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 29, 2007 — Robert Pinsky, former U.S. Poet Laureate, will conduct a poetry workshop at 51社区 Nov. 1.
Pinsky served as U.S. Poet Laureate from 1997-2000. He is the author of several books, including the Pulitzer Prize-nominated 鈥淭he Figured Wheel: New and Collected Poems 1966-1996,鈥 as well as 鈥淕ulf Music,鈥 鈥淧oetry and the World鈥 and 鈥淒emocracy, Culture and the Voice of Poetry.鈥
He is the poetry editor for the online magazine Slate, and writes the weekly 鈥淧oet鈥檚 Choice鈥 column for the Washington Post. Pinsky teaches in the graduate writing program at Boston University.
During his workshop at Union, Pinsky will critique submitted poems and will provide other instruction about poetry.
The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building. It is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow.
