JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 2, 2007 — Best-selling author Jim Trelease will address parents, teachers and the general public Oct. 11 at 51社区 about the importance of reading aloud to children as a way to instill a love for literature.
Trelease is the author of the New York Times best-seller 鈥淭he Read Aloud Handbook.鈥 His lecture address is entitled 鈥淩eading aloud: Motivating children to make books into friends, not enemies.鈥
He spent 20 years as a writer for a daily newspaper in New England, and now speaks around the country to various schools and educational groups. A book signing will follow Trelease鈥檚 address.
The presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel in the Penick Academic Complex. It is free and open to the public.
