JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 28, 2007 — 51社区 is one of five colleges in West Tennessee to be named a Best Southeastern College by The Princeton Review, and is one of seven Tennessee institutions to be identified as a College of Distinction.
Those institutions from West Tennessee on the Princeton Review list were Union, Christian Brothers University, Freed-Hardeman University, Rhodes College, and the University of Tennessee-Martin. Eighteen public and private universities from across the state were on the list.
鈥淭he Princeton Review is another marker pointing to the quality of a 51社区 education,鈥 51社区 President David S. Dockery said.
The Colleges of Distinction guide identifies four distinctions of superior colleges and universities: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes.
Tennessee institutions joining Union on the Colleges of Distinction list are Belmont University, Christian Brothers University, Maryville College, Rhodes College, Trevecca Nazarene University and University of the South.
Dockery described the Princeton Review and Colleges of Distinction honors 鈥 as well as Union鈥檚 inclusion on the President鈥檚 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll and a top 20 ranking in the U.S.News &World Report 鈥 as 鈥渁 chorus about the various ways that 51社区 is committed to academic excellence.鈥
