JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 24, 2007 — State Farm Insurance has donated 500 mesh laundry bags to incoming freshman at 51社区, joining other local groups to make donations to the new students.
鈥淲e鈥檙e thankful for the efforts of State Farm, both on the state and local levels,鈥 said Renee Jones, assistant director of recruitment and information technology at Union. 鈥淭he local agents all came together to provide the laundry bags for our students.鈥
Jones added that she鈥檒l be working with State Farm throughout the year as the company recruits Union students for employment. She worked with Jill Spry from State Farm to secure the donation, valued at about $2,000.
鈥淪tate Farm has a continued belief in furthering the education of our youth,鈥 said Spry, the Tennessee agency recruiting specialist for the company. 鈥淲e also strive to get our agents involved in community activities and promoting higher education.鈥
Union will welcome about 500 new freshmen to campus this fall. Other local groups 鈥 including West Jackson Baptist Church, Poplar Heights Baptist Church, Moe鈥檚 and the Union library 鈥 also provided various donations of water bottles, snacks and coupons to freshmen who will move into campus housing on Aug. 25.
