51ÉçÇø faculty awarded Teagle Grants

JACKSON, Tenn.May 25, 2001 — 51ÉçÇø’s Center for Faculty Development has announced those faculty members who have been chosen this year as Teagle grant recipients. The center received a grant totaling $216,000 last year from the Teagle Foundation, for a period of three years, for the purpose of supporting faculty in their growth as teachers, scholars and Christians. The following faculty members are this year’s recipients of Teagle Grants:

Faculty-Student Research Grant – Faculty and student pairs Dr. Jimmy Davis and Ingrid Renberg of the Department of Chemistry and Michael Mallard and Ryan Scheuneman of the Department of Art were each awarded a research grant.

Faculty-Faculty Research Grant – Faculty pairs Dr. James Huggins and Dr. Wayne Wofford of the Department of Biology and Dr. Bryan Dawson and Professor Troy Riggs were each awarded one $1000 faculty pair research team grant.

Teaching Development Conference – A grant of $1000 was awarded to Dr. Jean Marie Walls of the Department of Languages.

Course Redesign Or Development Of A New Course – Three grants of $1500 were awarded to Dr. Jan Wilms of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Dr. Sean Evans of the Department of History and Political Science and Dr. Toni Chiareli of the Department of Sociology and Social Work.

Integration of Faith and Learning Conferences – Three grants of $1500 were awarded to Dr. Troy Riggs of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Professor Roger Stanley of the Department of English, and Professor Brenda Alexander of the Department of History and Political Science.

Service Learning Grants – Recipients were Dr. Hal Poe of the Department of Christian Studies and Professor Mary Anne Poe of the Department of Sociology and Social Work.
