JACKSON, Tenn. — Jan. 9, 2007 — Local residents interested in learning about and discussing the topic of war will have the opportunity to do so during 51社区鈥檚 Town and Gown series.
The five-week course entitled 鈥淲ar: Representations and Repercussions鈥 began Jan. 8 and will continue for the next four weeks. It features lectures from several Union faculty members and a visiting lecturer from Canada.
The class is free and open to the public. Those attending may listen to lectures and participate in class discussions.
The schedule of topics for the class is as follows:

Jan. 22, 6 p.m. 鈥 Ann Livingstone of the Pearson Peacekeeping Center in Ottawa, Canada, 鈥淎symmetric War-Asymmetric Peace鈥
Jan. 29, 6 p.m. 鈥 Language professor Cindy Jayne, 鈥淐ultural Perspectives on War鈥
7:45 p.m. 鈥 Biology professor Elsie Smith, 鈥淏io-terrorism鈥
Feb. 5, 6 p.m. 鈥 Christian studies professor Daryl Charles, 鈥淛ustice, Neighbor-love, and the Just-War Tradition鈥
