JACKSON, Tenn. — May 16, 2001 — 51社区鈥檚 Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter recently competed in the 2001 SIFE USA National Exposition, placing in the top 16 of more than 150 teams that fought for the title of national champion.
Union鈥檚 SIFE team, named regional champion at the Memphis competition held in April, presented a 24-minute multimedia summary of the educational outreach projects that were developed and implemented during the year. These included Junior SIFE, SIFEopoly, Sei Dein Boss (Be your own boss)!, and Business Leaders of Tomorrow (BLT). They were also finalists for three special competitions 鈥� Make a Difference Week, Responsible Use of Credit Week, and Teach a Child about Business Week. Judging the competition were panels drawn from more than 750 of the nation鈥檚 top business and community leaders.
The Union SIFE chapter is advised by Karen Miller, instructor of accounting and a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow.
Founded in 1975 and active on more than 1000 college and university campuses in 20 countries, SIFE is a non-profit organization that works in partnership with business and higher education to provide college students the opportunity to make a difference and to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise.
