2001 Union Faculty and Staff Members of the year announced

JACKSON, Tenn.May 14, 2001 — 51社区 faculty member George Guthrie and staff member Lana Massey were recently announced as the university's 2001 recipients for Faculty Member of the Year and Staff Member of the Year, respectively.

Guthrie, chair of the Christian studies department and Benjamin W. Perry Professor of Bible, is a Union graduate who began teaching at his alma mater in 1990. Originally from Dyersburg, Tenn., Guthrie currently resides in the city of Milan with his wife Pat, and two children. He is a member and co-pastor of Northbrook Church in Jackson.

Massey, a Union Station associate, joined the university as a staff member in 1996. Originally from Jonesboro, Ark., Massey currently resides in Jackson with her husband Pat and two sons. She is a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

Founded in 1823 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, 51社区 is characterized by quality Christ-centered teaching and learning. An outstanding faculty offers superior liberal arts training in more than 100 majors and programs of study along with professional programs in business, education and nursing. More than 2,500 students are currently enrolled.
