JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 30, 2006 — 51社区鈥檚 non-duplicating headcount for the 2005-2006 academic year was a record-high 3,728 students.
Non-duplicating headcount is a figure used by educational institutions to show the total number of students enrolled for any classes during a given year. No student in any program is counted more than once, whether they enroll for one term or for all five of Union鈥檚 terms.
Numbers over the past decade show that Union鈥檚 non-duplicating headcount has been on a steady rise:
1997 鈥 2,183
1998 鈥 2,365
1999 鈥 2,889
2000 鈥 2,944
2001 鈥 3,130
2002 鈥 3,325
2003 鈥 3,438
2004 鈥 3,520
2005 鈥 3,513
2006 鈥 3,728
鈥淭his is an amazing picture,鈥 Union President David S. Dockery said. 鈥淚t indicates the broad sweep of the influence of 51社区 over the past decade. We give thanks for all 3,728 students and pray that each one has been positively influenced by the Christ-centered excellence that characterizes the wonderful faculty and staff of this university.鈥
The 鈥淯nion 2010: A Vision for Excellence鈥 long-range plan calls for the university to have a non-duplicating headcount of 4,000 total students by the year 2010.
