Time鈥檚 Carlson to speak at Union April 6

JACKSON, Tenn.April 3, 2006 — Time magazine columnist Margaret Carlson will speak at a 51社区 luncheon April 6 as part of the annual Union Forum lecture series.

She will address the subject, 鈥淛udicial Appointments and the U.S. Supreme Court.鈥

Carlson became a columnist for Time magazine in February 1994. Her column, 鈥淧ublic Eye,鈥 made Carlson the first woman columnist in the magazine鈥檚 76-year history.

Prior to her current position, Carlson served as the magazine鈥檚 deputy Washington bureau chief, and became White House correspondent in 1992. She is a frequent panelist on national political programs such as CNN鈥檚 鈥淚nside Politics鈥 and was a regular on 鈥淭he Capital Gang鈥 during its lengthy run.

Carlson has extensively covered the last three presidential campaigns. Currently she is on the board of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. She wrote the book 鈥淎nyone Can Grow Up: How George Bush and I Made It to the White House.鈥

The luncheon begins at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $25 each, or $125 for a table of six. Online registration is available at www.uu.edu/events/unionforum/2006.

Prior to the luncheon, Carlson will address Union students at 10:50 a.m. in room D-3 in the Penick Academic Complex.
