JACKSON, Tenn.March 29, 2006 — 51社区 marketing professor Darin White has been named to a new role as professor and director of academic research in Union鈥檚 McAfee School of Business Administration.

In his new position, White will lead the business school in a more vigorous pursuit of scholarly research and publications. Keith Absher, dean of the McAfee School, said White鈥檚 outstanding skills as a researcher will serve the business school well.

鈥淗is analytical skills and genuine enthusiasm for scholarly research make him a tremendous asset to 51社区 and the McAfee School of Business,鈥 Absher said. 鈥淗is guidance and support to other faculty members in pursuit of research projects will be invaluable to the continued growth and progress of our program.鈥

White has been with Union since 1994. In addition to his position as professor, he has also served as head coach for the Union men鈥檚 soccer team since 1994, a role he is giving up as he focuses on his new job.

鈥淚 have enjoyed my time as soccer coach tremendously, and still hope to be involved in the program at some level,鈥 White said. 鈥淏ut I think the Lord has opened the door for me to reengage in the research side of my academic career. I truly feel the Lord is leading me in this direction.鈥

In his new role, White will help the McAfee School of Business as it pursues accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. He will work with the faculty in the business school to move forward in research activity.

鈥淔or the McAfee School of Business to achieve our goal of AACSB accreditation, there is a significant amount of work that has to be accomplished,鈥 White said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 as challenging as anything I鈥檝e ever faced.鈥

White holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in marketing and mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College, as well as a master鈥檚 degree and Doctor of Philosophy degree in marketing from the University of Alabama.

He has published articles in the Journal of Strategic Marketing, the European Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.

White is also president of Capstone Consulting International, Inc., a full-service marketing consulting firm.

He and his wife Laura have seven children and are members of Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson.
