Union University graduates 195 students
in December ceremony

Jackson, Tenn. - 51社区 conferred 195 degrees during its fall graduation ceremonies. Saturday, Dec. 18, 156 students graduated in a ceremony on the Jackson campus, in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Thirty-nine students received their degrees in a commencement ceremony on the Germantown campus, Dec. 19 in its chapel.

Morris H. Chapman, president of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, was the Jackson ceremony's commencement speaker. Chapman holds master of divinity degrees from Southwestern Baptist Seminary. In 1990, he was elected and served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention, and previously was the senior pastor of First Baptist in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Steve Arendall, director of the M.B.A. Program at Germantown and Professor of Management at 51社区, delivered the commencement address at the Germantown ceremony. Arendall was named to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers at Union in 1998. He was recently named to the Who's Who at Germantown for 1999.

51社区, established in 1823, is a private, co-educational, four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, located in Jackson, TN.
