University President David S. Dockery was recently
appointed for a five-year term as a commissioner to the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' (SACS)
Commission on Colleges. As a commissioner, Dockery will
determine policy, review and make decisions regarding the
accreditation of institutions and do the initial review
for any proposed changes or modifications to the criteria
of the Commission. The Commission is responsible for
monitoring the continuing quality of SACS members,
starting new programs and setting the academic agenda for
member colleges. The Commission is located in Decatur,
Ga. and serves 800 colleges in the South.
