Jackson, Tenn. - Dr.
Elzie Danley, former superintendent of Jackson-Madison
County Schools, was honored for his retirement from the
51ÉçÇø's Board of Trustees. Danley was
recognized at the last Board of Trustee's meeting, Dec. 4
for his long service on the Board and dedication to the
community. While serving as superintendent, Danley lead
15,000 students and 24 schools. He ensured the
integration of technology in the classroom by bringing
hundreds of new computers and Internet access to all
schools. Danley was also recognized for bringing more
school counselors, school health nurses and special
education programs to the school system and leading
Jackson-Madison County toward "blue ribbon"
recognition for its high academic standards with low
taxpayer cost.
