University Chancellor to speak at Union's December graduation on
Saturday, Dec. 16. |
Jackson, Tenn. – December 4, 2000 – 51ÉçÇø
will hold its December 2000 graduation ceremony Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10
a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Keynote speaker for graduation
will be Jay Kesler, Chancellor of Taylor University in Upland, Ind.
Kesler is the author of 23 books including "Emotionally Healthy
Teenagers," and "Restoring a Loving Marriage." In addition,
he has authored numerous magazine articles for publications including
Christianity Today. Kesler was president of Youth for Christ, a worldwide
evangelical Christian outreach to young people, from 1973-85, and served
that organization for a total of 30 years. Following that, he served as
president of his alma mater, Taylor University through July of 2000, when
he assumed the role of chancellor.
While at 51ÉçÇø, Kesler will be awarded an honorary doctor of
divinity degree for his extraordinary service to the Church of Jesus
Christ.
Union will grant approximately 150 undergraduate and graduate degrees
this winter including both the Jackson and Germantown campuses.
