Jackson, Tenn. - Union Universitys communication arts, music and art departments come together to present Christmas Is ... a Time, a Star, a Gift, Dec. 8 in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. The original presentation was written by Wayne Johnson, associate professor of communication arts. Included in the program are performances by the 51社区 Players, the Symphonic and Stage Bands, 51社区 Singers, Chapel Choir and Handbells. I think its going to have something for all ages, Johnson said. It will be a night of the Christmas sounds and Christmas music. The evenings events will include a nativity scene, audience participation and a Christmas carol sing-along. The original drama is a retelling of the Christmas story. Nearly 200 students, faculty and staff members have been involved in the production in one way or another, Johnson said. President David Dockery approached Johnson last spring about creating such a program, Johnson said. Johnson worked with Dr. Andrew Roby of the music department to put the presentation together. Were hoping this will become a Union family tradition and a city tradition as well. Its Unions gift to the city and to the Union family, Johnson explained. Christmas Is ... a Time, a Star, a Gift begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. |
