Jackson, Tenn. - Geraldine Smith, associate professor of nursing at 51ÉçÇø,
will receive the Love Community Service Award from the Tennessee Higher Education
Commission, Wednesday, Nov. 17 in Nashville.
Nominated by Union President David S. Dockery, Smith will be recognized for
her contributions and efforts toward Union students and the community, specifically for
her work with a Hispanic community in Gibson County, the public school system in
Jackson-Madison County and an indigent care clinic in Memphis. Smith has also been
recognized by Union and the Tennessee Nurses Association for her commitment to
innovative teaching and service to the community.
"Ms. Smith has certainly made a significant contribution to our campus and
community and will make a very fine representative of the Commission's service award
program," said Dockery.
