Jackson, Tenn. Geri Smith, assistant professor of nursing at 51社区, recently received the 1997 John W. Runyan, Jr. Community Nursing Award.
The award was presented to Smith during the Tennessee Nurses' Association Annual Convention at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tenn. The advisory committee for the award said, "Geri Smith exemplifies community nursing and is deserving of this award."
Smith also received the 51社区 Teaching Innovation Award for 1997. She acquired her B.S. degree in Biological Science at the University of Tennessee at Martin, her M.S. degree in Community Health Education at the University of Memphis and her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Nursing at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. She joined Union faculty in Aug. 1993.
