Union authors to unveil
new releases at Davis-Kidd
 


Jackson, Tenn
. - Four 51ÉçÇø authors will present their newest books at Davis-Kidd Booksellers, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. President David S. Dockery; Executive Vice President Michael Duduit; David Gushee, director of the Union Center for Christian Leadership; and George Guthrie, chair of the Christian studies department, will take part in Union Author Night, to be held in the bookstore's conference room.

ourchho2.jpg (45138 bytes)Dockery's recent books include "Our Christian Hope," "New Dimensions in Evangelical Thought" and the "Holman Concise Bible Commentary." "Our Christian Hope," a book on the end times as detailed in the Bible, will be the focus of Dockery's discussion.

Duduit will talk about his 1996 book, "Communicate with Power," which was released in paperback this fall by Baker Books. "Communicate with Power" is a collection of interviews published during the first decade of "Preaching" magazine. Duduit is the editor of "Preaching" and has also written the "Abingdon Preaching Annual 1999."

Gushee will touch briefly on his most current book, "A Bolder Pulpit," but will primarily discuss "The Righteous Gentiles of the Holocaust," published in 1994. Gushee recently completed a book tour through Germany, promoting the German translation of "Righteous Gentiles."

Guthrie has released three books this fall: "The Structure of Hebrews," the "Hebrews: NIV Application Commentary Series" and "Biblical Greek Exegesis." Guthrie's talk will highlight the "Hebrews" commentary.

Most of the discussed books will be on sale at the event; the authors will be available for book signing.
