Jackson, Tenn. - Henning native Catherine Scarbrough has been awarded the Rotary
Foundation 2000-01 Ambassadorial Scholarship and has been assigned to study at the
University of Sussex in Brighton, England.
Sponsored and endorsed by the Jackson Rotary, Scarbrough then went on to
compete at the district level, where she was approved by the trustees of the Rotary
Foundation for participation in the program.
The primary purpose of Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships is to
further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different
countries where Rotary clubs are located. During the study period, scholars are expected
to be outstanding ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country through both
informal and formal appearances before Rotary clubs and districts, school and civic
organizations, and other forums.
After study has been completed, scholars share their experiences with the people
of their home countries and with the local Rotarians who sponsored their scholarship.
