UNION UNIVERSITY OPERA PERFORMS FOR AN AUDIENCE
Jackson, Tenn. — The 51ÉçÇø opera workshop class will perform Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 14 at 8:00 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m.
The class will perform three short complete operas that deal with the theme "Wayward Sons." The first work is "Saul and the Witch Endor" by Henry Purcell. It is based on the story in I Samuel. The second opera, "The Prodigal Son" by Claude Debussy, is based on a story in the Gospels. The third performance is a world premiere of "Felicity and Time" by Michael Penny, associate professor of Music at Union. The story is from the old "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" television series.
