Jackson, Tenn. - The 51社区 Players will present "1984: Myth, History,
Tomorrow" an adaptation of George Orwell's "1984." Performances will be held Oct. 14-
16 and Oct. 18-19 at 8:00 p.m. and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 17 in Union's
W.D. Powell Theatre.
Adapted and directed by Johnson, only language and mention of dates have been
altered, making the play as current today as it was in 1984 and in previous years. Based
on Orwell's visionary novel, "1984", the play draws eerie comparisons with the future as
Orwell saw it over fifty years ago, and present-day politics and government.
General admission is $8 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets are on sale now at
the 51社区 box office at (901) 661-5105 or they may be purchased at the door
for no additional charge. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
