Jackson, Tenn. Georgia Wellborn, a lyric
soprano, will give a faculty recital Oct. 12, featuring music from Handel, Faure, Mozart
and Strauss. She will be accompanied by Terry McRoberts. The concert will be held in the
Recital Hall located in the Penick Academic Complex and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission
is free; the public is invited to attend.
Wellborn is an associate professor of music at Union where she teaches private voice,
vocal pedagogy and vocal literature. She has performed in recital and oratorio throughout
the state and region. She is a graduate of Carson-Newman College, received her master
of music in vocal performance at Florida State University and most recently received her
doctor of arts in music at the University of Mississippi. Wellborn also has a master of
library and information science from the University of Tennessee and has done additional
study at North Texas State University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary,
Westminster Choir College, and Oberlin College Conservatory of Music.
McRoberts, professor of music at Union, performs frequently as a soloist and a
collaborative musician, and is a member of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
