UNION'S MICHAEL MALLARD RECEIVES HONOR IN ART CALENDAR MAGAZINE
Jackson, Tenn. — Michael Mallard, Chair of the Department of Art at 51ÉçÇø, has been awarded honorable mention in Art Calendar magazine's Crabbie Awards. Art Calendar magazine is published on the Eastern Shore where art and crabbing are important enterprises. The awards are named the "Crabbies" in honor of the two enterprises.
Art Calendar magazine is a national, well-established art publication with practical resources for the professional artist. Mallard's painting, titled O. K., was one of 200 that made the final cut out of 2700 entries. His work is featured on Art Calendar's website at http:www.artcalendar.com.
Mallard received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia in 1981. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1983. Mallard has been a member of Union's faculty since 1991.
