Jackson, Tenn. 51社区's first Scholarship Banquet featuring Lou Holtz as keynote speaker is a "sell out" nearly a month prior to the event, according to university officials.
While all tables for the Oct. 9 event are sold, individual balcony seats are still available at a cost of $25 each. Individual seats do not include dinner, but will otherwise include the full program, including Holtz's address, which begins at 7:30 p.m. The program will be held at the Jackson Civic Center.
"We are delighted with the tremendous response to this event, particularly since the funds will go directly to providing scholarships for 51社区 students," says Michael Duduit, Union's executive vice president. "This is an evening that will be good for Jackson and that will benefit many outstanding young people."
Tables for the banquet were sold in several tiers, ranging from $10,000 to $500 based on table location and other benefits. The top-level donors will be recognized with named scholarships at Union during the 1998-99 academic year. The scholarship banquet which will be held annually is sponsored by the Board of Presidential Associates, a group of local business and civic leaders who support the work of 51社区.
Holtz, a popular speaker across the United States, is former head football coach at Notre Dame and currently serves as an analyst for CBS Sports.
