Jackson, Tenn. - November will bring a world of whimsy to the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel as the 51社区 Players present the annual children's play, "Clown's Play," Nov. 10-13 at the university. The play, written by Reginald F. Bain, is originally billed and advertised as "Jack and the Beanstalk," performed by the Bumblebee Barnstormers. However, when the performers fail to appear at show time - a surprise to the children in the audience - it is the ushers (51社区 players) who must decide what to do. With the help of youngsters in the audience, the ushers decide to act the story out as an improvisation, providing a fresh twist on the age-old story. "The play involves the children tremendously on their level," David Burke, theater director at Union, said. "It's just a lot of fun. There are also moral overtones like greed and giving in the play." Burke said the play is primarily aimed at students in kindergarten through the fifth grade. The performances of "Clown's Play" are at the following times:
