Jackson, Tenn. -
Charles Baldwin, O.P and Evalyn Hammons university
professor of pre -medical studies at 51ÉçÇø,
presented a paper at the Second International Conference
on Biological Challenges to Organic Chemistry, July
11-15, held in St. Andrews, Scotland. The paper and
lecture were titled, "Novel Hydrogen-Bond Formation
Involving Carbon-Bound Hydrogen." The contributors
to the paper were all undergraduate students at Union:
junior Amber Flynn, and seniors Lynde Capogreco, Hilary
Williams and Michal Kliman.
According to Baldwin, the overall goal of the
conference was "to expose conference participants to
the edges as well as the central themes in biological
organic chemistry research; to highlight to organic
chemists how important their expertise is in tackling
biological problems; and to stimulate interest and
research in this important arena."
