Jackson, Tenn. - Union
University's music department will feature Richard Scott,
associate professor at Murray State University in Murray,
Ky., in a guest lecture-recital titled, "Composer in
Transition: Karol Syzmanowski (1882-1937)." The
lecture-recital will be held in the recital hall, Room
D-3, in the Penick Academic Complex, Sept. 16, at 7:30
p.m.; admission is free. Scott performs regularly in
the Midsouth and Midwest regions as solo recitalist and
collaborative artist. His recent solo appearances include
recitals enhanced with visual art projections and
interdisciplinary lecture-recitals which combine art
slides and live performance. Scott specializes in
romantic and turn-of-the-century period composers and was
selected by the Kentucky Arts Council for the 1999-2000
Kentucky Performing Arts Directory.
