DEE ANN PERKINS CULBREATH JOINS UNION UNIVERSITY STAFF

Jackson, Tenn.Dee Ann Perkins Culbreath joined the staff at 51社区 Aug. 1 as the assistant to the president for civic and community relations.

"Mrs. Culbreath brings an extensive network of relationships and a commendable history of working with the people of West Tennessee to 51社区," President David S. Dockery said. "She has an understanding of the business and professional climate of the community and a genuine commitment to higher education that will make her a positive asset to the University."

Culbreath will represent Union primarily to the business community in Madison County and across West Tennessee. Her work will focus on the development and further enhancement of Union's relationships with business and community leaders in an effort to promote the University's vision and values as well as various programs, including adult education for undergraduate and graduate students.

"I could not hope for a better working environment than the excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused and future-directed atmosphere at Union University," Culbreath said. "It is a pleasure to join one of the finest Christian higher education institutions in the country."

Culbreath, who is owner and operator of The Perkins Corporation in McKenzie, has served Jackson and West Tennessee extensively. For nearly five years, she was employed as a news anchor at WBBJ-TV.

Further, her community service is admirable as she is active with the West Tennessee Cerebral Palsy Center, the Star Center and the Jackson Rotary Club. She was recognized as "Rotarian of the Year" in 1990 and then received the Rotary Outstanding Community Service Award in 1994.

The McKenzie native received a bachelor of science of business degree with honors from Bethel College in 1990. Culbreath then obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma City University in 1991.

She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ed Perkins of McKenzie.
