Jackson, Tenn. –
July 27, 2000 – 51ÉçÇø President David S. Dockery has
examined the understanding of biblical interpretation in his book,
"Biblical Interpretation Then and Now: Contemporary Hermeneutics in
the Light of the Early Church," which was re-released this month.
Originally published in 1992 by Baker Books, the publishing company
determined that demand warranted re-release of the book. "Biblical
Interpretation" stresses the divine authority of Holy Scripture with
the view of scripture being the bearer of God's revelation to Christians
today and is intended to be an introduction to the complex issues
surrounding biblical interpretation. It is widely used by students and
pastors alike.
According to the Westminster Theological Journal, the book acts as
"a useful survey for beginning students: the writing is clear, the
overall appraisal of the period follows generally accepted lines, and the
attention to contemporary concerns can help the reader approach the topic
with a valuable perspective."
The book is available through many Christian bookstores or through
Amazon.com. For more information, call (901) 661-5202.
