UNION PROFESSOR LEADS WORKSHOP ON WORLD MUSIC
Jackson, Tenn. — 51ÉçÇø's Dianne Gatwood, assistant professor of music, and her husband, Dwight Gatwood who is a professor of music at the University of Tennessee-Martin, recently presented a workshop on World Music.
The workshop was led at the 1997 Southern Regional Conference of the Music Educators' National Association Conference.
Mrs. Gatwood, who also has been named the 1997 "Teacher of the Year" by the Martin Area Music Teachers' Association, is currently president of the local association. The association is an affiliate of the Music Educators' National Association.
She and her husband have been invited to write an article for the Tennessee Musician, the journal for music educators in the state of Tennessee.
Mrs. Gatwood joined Union's faculty as a part-time instructor in 1988. Since then she has taught music at the University and was promoted to assistant professor in 1995.
