Jackson, Tenn.
– June 21, 2000 – Jackson native Anna Clifford, an assistant
professor of education at 51ÉçÇø, has been awarded the 2000
Tennessee Education Association Distinguished Educational Employee Award
for Higher Education.
With 29 years of education experience, Clifford received her bachelor
of education degree and master of science degree from the University of
Tennessee in Martin. She has also done additional study at the St.
Nicholas Montessori Training Center in London, England and the University
of Memphis and 51ÉçÇø.
"In the classroom, Anna has the unique ability of holding students
accountable to high standards and, at the same time, of helping them to
achieve at this level," said Ann Singleton, chair of Union's
education department.
Clifford has taught at 51ÉçÇø since 1991. The award she
received is sponsored in part by the Tennessee Education Association and
the Tennessee Book Company.
