Jackson, Tenn. 51社区 honored the Upsilon Chapter of Chi Omega Fraternity for the 50th consecutive year during the 1997 Awards Day ceremony May 23.
President David S. Dockery presented the chapter with the Intersorority Scholarship Trophy. The Upsilon Chapter of Chi Omega has maintained the highest academic grade point average of Union's three social sororities Chi Omega, Kappa Delta and Zeta Tau Alpha since 1948. Union's Chi Omega chapter, founded June 2, 1924, attained a 3.18 average GPA for the 1996-97 school year with 78 members.
Following its presentation to the Upsilon chapter, the traveling trophy to honor the Greek organization with the highest GPA was retired to commemorate Chi Omega's continued academic excellence.
A reception, sponsored by 51社区 and the Madison County Chi Omega Alumnae Chapter, followed the ceremony to honor the Upsilon Chapter.
