UNION UNIVERSITY GRADUATES 336
IN SPRING COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES

Jackson, Tenn. — 51ÉçÇø graduated 336 students during the university's 173rd annual commencement exercises, Saturday, May 30.

Those who were graduated completed their degree requirements in January or May of 1998. An additional 57 students who anticipate finishing their requirements during the summer also participated in the exercises.

Dr. Robert Andringa, president of the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities, delivered the commencement address. Dr. Philip Jett, pastor of Englewood Baptist Church, Jackson, served as the baccalaureate speaker.

Jason Alton Logan, a chemistry major from Bolivar, was awarded the Elizabeth Tigrett Medal, an award honoring the outstanding member of the graduating class of 1998.

Highest academic awards were presented to John Campion, an accounting major from Hanover, Penn.; Deborah Kelso, a learning foundations major from Brownsville; Stephanie Lee, a learning foundations major from Blue Springs, Mo.; Kelly Swain, a Christian studies major from Midland, Mich.; and Kimberly Whitt, a mathematics major from Milan. These students attained a perfect 4.0 grade point average during their college career at Union.
