Recipients of two highest awards announced
at graduation ceremonies

Jackson, Tenn. – The recipients of the two highest awards presented by Union were announced at graduation ceremonies held Saturday, May 20.

Samantha Sloan of Lebanon, Tenn., and Carrie Barger of Huntingdon, Tenn., were this year's recipients for the University Academic Achievement Award, the award presented to the student with the highest academic average. Both students maintained a 4.0 g.p.a.

Lillian Myatt, a senior Spanish major, was awarded the Elizabeth Tigrett Medal. This award is given to the student who is nominated and selected by the 51ÉçÇø faculty and is considered the highest honor given to a student at Union. The student who is chosen for this award demonstrates leadership and represents the values and ideals set by the university. Earlier in the year, Myatt was selected as homecoming queen by her peers. While at Union, Myatt was a member of Alpha Chi, Student Affiliate of the American Chemical Society, and the Sigma Zeta Science Honor Society.
