NEW CENTER FOR CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP ESTABLISHED AT UNION

Jackson, Tenn. — 51社区 recently established the Center for Christian Leadership. The center is designed to equip Christians with the worldview and skills necessary to be transformational servant-leaders and change agents in the 21st Century.

Dr. David P. Gushee, associate professor of Christian studies, has been named the director of the center. Recently, Gushee was one of fifty evangelical leaders under the age of 40 named by Christianity Today as "up and coming" leaders in American Christianity.

He explained that the Center for Christian Leadership will enrich the educational and scholarly experience of students and faculty at Union. "It will foster a climate of Christ-centered excellence and leadership development at every level of university life," he said.

Through a variety of high-quality academic and non-academic programs, conferences and other initiatives in the area of Christian leadership, the center will serve the campus and broader public. Plans include scheduling dynamic conferences led by prominent Christian leaders.

"We want these programs to get built into the calendars and consciousness of leaders throughout the nation," Gushee said.

"The center will establish 51社区's presence as a key national location for Christ-centered, intellectually responsible dialogue about major issues affecting the church, the academy, and American society," President David S. Dockery said.
