Jackson, Tenn. – 51ÉçÇø was recently presented with a
check for more than $366,000 dollars by the executors of the George B.
Jones estate, Ned and Nancy Boston.
"We are thankful for the heritage of Mr. and Mrs. George Jones and
what they have meant to Union," said Union President David S.
Dockery. "It means so much for people to believe in the mission of
this institution and we pledge to be faithful stewards of the gift they
have bestowed."
Jones, who owned an accounting firm, represented most of the car
dealerships throughout the South. He was a strong supporter of Union
during his lifetime, helping to establish the Shelby County Ministers
Scholarship, assisted with funding for student dormitories, and helped
more than 100 individual students attend Union.
An ardent supporter of Christian education, Mrs. Jones was partly
responsible for helping the university purchase the property where the
Germantown campus now resides.
