First 51ÉçÇø Teagle Grant
recipients awarded

Jackson, Tenn. – 51ÉçÇø's Center for Faculty Development recently secured a grant for $216,000 from the Teagle Foundation for the purpose of supporting faculty in their growth as teachers, scholars and Christians. The following faculty and students are this year's recipients of Teagle Grants:

Faculty-Student Research Grants - Two faculty-student research pairs were each awarded $1000 grants. They are: Dr. Carol Weaver of the Department of Biology and student Caleb Trent; Dr. Wayne Wofford of the Department of Biology and student Larry Langlianis.

Faculty-Faculty Research Grant - Dr. Michele Atkins and Dr. Ralph Leverett of the Department of Education were awarded one $1000 faculty pair research team grant.

Teaching Development Conference - Two grants of $1000 each were awarded to Dr. Naomi Larsen from the Department of Sociology and Social Work and Professor Roslyn Wilson, also from the Department of Sociology and Social Work.

Course Redesign Or Development Of A New Course: Though twenty-one applications were received for this category, only three grants of $1500 could be awarded. The wining faculty members are: Dr. Kyle Hathcox and Dr. David Ward from the Department of Physics for a joint project to develop a new course titled Musical Acoustics; Professor Cynthia Fish from the School of Nursing for a redesign of the course, Pharmacotherapeutics; Dr. Paul Munson from the Department of Music for a redesign of the course History of Music I.
