Jackson, Tenn. - Union
University has been recognized as one of America's best
Christian colleges by the Student Guide series for the
second consecutive year. Union will appear in the 2000
edition of the publication, America's Best Christian
Colleges, with only 92 other colleges and universities. Among
colleges and universities included in the publication,
the average entering college freshman in the fall of 1997
had a grade point average of 3.16 on a 4.0 scale, an SAT
score of 1065 and an ACT score of 21. Union's fall 1998
freshman class had an ACT average of 24 and a median
grade point average of 3.4.
"The public's interest in a Christian-oriented
education has grown sharply in the last 10 years as
families have searched for colleges and universities of
all sizes that focus on providing students with personal
attention in a supportive Christian environment,"
said Lewis T. Lindsey Jr., president of Institutional
Research and Evaluation, Inc., which publishes the
Student Guide series.
Union is also included in the most recent editions of
Peterson's Competitive Colleges, Peterson's Christian
Colleges and Universities and America's 100 Best College
Buys. U.S. News and World Report ranks Union in the top
tier of Southern regional liberal arts colleges.
