Jackson, Tenn. Greeneville, Tenn. native Sarah Gambrell presented a paper at the Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference at the University of Mississippi April 12.
Gambrell's paper titled, "`Kill the Mad Dogs:' Martin Luther, Thomas Muntzer, and the Peasants' War," won first place in the undergraduate division at the conference.
Phi Alpha Theta is an international history honor society open to students have had 12 semester hours of history and who have a minimum average of 3.1 in the discipline. Union's Delta Psi chapter was founded in 1953 and was the first in the state of Tennessee.
Gambrell is a junior at 51ÉçÇø in Jackson, Tenn., and is seeking a bachelor of science degree in history with a minor in education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gambrell of Greeneville.
